Product Description
OWL OPTICAL WAVELENGTH LABORATORIESZO2V ZOOM 2 optical power meter w/integrated VFL with data storage NEWFEATURES:InGaAs photodetector with 2.5mm universal adapter port (forST, SC, FC, and others)Multimode and singlemode readyGraphic LCD display with intuitive user interfaceSimple 2-key operationPower measurements shown in dBm, dB, or microwattsStores optical references for each wavelength to be used foroptical loss testingLong battery life – over 250 hrs on one 9v batteryIntegrated visual fault locator (VFL) for fiber identification andnear-end fault detectionAPPLICATIONS:The ZOOM 2 VFL is a high accuracy, high resolution, microprocessor controlled, optical power meter. It has a65dB dynamic range, and is calibrated at 850, 1300, 1310,1490, and 1550nm, making it ideal for both singlemode andmultimode fiber testing, including Fiber To The Home (FTTH)PON networks. It is enclosed in an attractive handheld case with a graphicliquid crystal display, and 2-key keypad for easy operation. Its 2.5mm universal fiber connector port allows connection toST, SC, FC, and other popular 2.5mm ferrule connectors, willoperate for over 250 hours on a standard high-capacity 9vbattery, and has built-in auto shutdown. Reference values foreach calibrated wavelength can be stored in permanentmemory for quick and simple optical loss measurements. The ZOOM 2 VFL also contains a precision-coupled visualfault locator optimized for fiber optics. An optical ball lensplaced near the laser output focuses the light for optimuminput into fiber optic cables, and special current-limitingelectronics prevents laser burnout (a common problem withpen-style laser pointers), increasing the life of the VFL.Its high-intensity red laser allows for fiber identification up to 5kilometers away through both multimode and singlemodefibers. It can also be used to check for faults within a few feet of itslaunch point. When the bright red light encounters a fault, thelight is deflected into the jacket, producing a red glow at thepoint of the fault.
