The Simpson Strong-Tie PFCB Post Frame Column Base Bracket creates a fast, strong connection between built-up wood columns and concrete foundations. This dry-set pole barn concrete post base features a mechanically clinched steel assembly that adds stiffness and supports high-performance lateral and uplift resistance. Its heavy-gauge construction, large corner embossments and G90 galvanized coating make it a dependable option for post-frame buildings where structural reliability, corrosion protection and installation speed are essential. Available in sizes for common glulam, nail-laminated, planed nail-laminated and solid-sawn columns, the PFCB serves as a complete pole barn post base without requiring through-bolts.
Key Features
- Mechanically Clinched Assembly: The bracket angles and base plate are interlocked to form a rigid column-base connection.
- Heavy-Gauge Steel: Engineered for strong post-frame foundation connections and tested structural performance.
- G90 Galvanized Finish: Provides dependable corrosion protection for common construction environments.
- No Through-Bolting: Supplied Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws simplify attachment to the wood column.
- Built-In Washers: Hand-removable washers help reduce misplaced components and support efficient concrete-anchor installation.
- Multiple Column Configurations: Sizes are available for common glulam, planed, nail-laminated and built-up wood posts.
- Tested and Code Listed: Designed to provide reliable uplift and lateral performance when properly specified and installed.
Applications
- Pole barn post anchors and pole building post bases
- Post-frame agricultural, livestock and machinery-storage buildings
- Commercial shops, garages, warehouses and utility structures
- Wood column connections to concrete slabs, stem walls, turndown edges and piers
- Pole barn slab mounting brackets for dry-set construction
- Concrete post holders for built-up, glulam and solid-sawn columns
- Post-frame foundation brackets requiring high lateral capacity
- Metal brackets for post-and-beam construction
Installation
Position the PFCB bracket on the completed concrete foundation according to the project plans and Simpson Strong-Tie installation requirements. Optional set-screw holes may be used to temporarily hold the bracket in position before drilling and installing the specified concrete anchors. Do not use the PFCB pilot holes as concrete-anchor holes. Remove the built-in washers by hand and place them beneath the heads of the concrete anchors. Set the wood column into the bracket and install every supplied Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screw in the specified holes. Concrete strength, edge distance, anchor type, embedment, foundation reinforcement and allowable loads must match the engineered connection design.
Useful internal-linking topics include concrete post anchors, pole barn hardware, post frame brackets, structural screws and concrete anchoring accessories.
